MG Hector India a mid-size SUV launched in India and will go head-to-head against the Tata harrier, Mahindra XUV 500, Jeep Compass.
2019 MG Hector will be available in four engine-gearbox setups – petrol manual, automatic, hybrid and a diesel manual.
The petrol engine is a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged unit that produces 143PS and is on offer with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. You can also buy the petrol version with a 48-volt mild-hybrid. The MG Hector diesel engine offered is the same 2.0-litre, the four-cylinder unit as the Jeep Compass and offers 170PS but can be had with the six-speed manual gearbox only.
the MG Hector SUV is on offer in four variants, Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp, though features like ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, dual front airbags, hill hold and traction control are all part of standard equipment across the range.
The boot space at 587 liters is by far the largest in its segment. It adds to convenience too with 60:40 split and goes completely flat with seats folded.
The MG Hector Smart Variant sits below the top variant in the diesel line-up of Hector. The variant comes with the latest technology infotainment system, advanced safety features and luxurious features. MG is offering all the bells and whistles in the smart variant of Hector.
The MG Hector exteriors are bold and aggressive due to the 17-inch machined cut dual tone alloy wheels. MG has spared no expense when it comes to offering the lights on the SUV. They are offering all LED units in headlamps, DRL’s and taillamps. Moreover, the foglamps and indicators on the ORVM’s are also LED’s. There are also roof rails offered as standard which enhance the stance of the MG Hector.
The MG Hector interior consists of many luxurious features like PU leather seats, steering wheel and an electrically adjustable driver seat. For more convenience, 7-inch MID display and a push-button start-stop with smart entry. For entertainment purpose, the Hector will have a 10-inch AVN touchscreen infotainment system with speakers, tweeters and a sub-woofer. The infotainment system comes equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The iSmart connectivity technology embedded in the infotainment system allows the voice assistant to navigate routes on the maps. Moreover, it also provides vehicle status, remote operation and E-call facility in emergency situations. There is also internet connectivity via 5G-ready internet sim. For the comfort of the rear passengers, there is a rear AC and the seats can be reclined as well. MG is also offering cruise control for effortless highway driving.
The 2.0L diesel engine of the SUV is capable of producing a max power of 170PS @ 3750rpm and max torque of 350Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
MG Hector mileage in diesel variants will be around 17.41 kmpl.
The safety MG Hector features will comprise of 4 airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, traction control system, ESP and front and rear parking sensors. Moreover, there is also a tire pressure monitoring system which will monitor the pressure of the tires.
The MG Hector is offered with a 5-year/unlimited km comprehensive warranty for private vehicle owners, called MG Shield. This factory warranty includes free roadside 24*7 assistance and no labor charges for the first five scheduled services. This apart, MG will also offer prepaid maintenance plans, like those offered by luxury car brands, starting at Rs 8,000 for the first three years of ownership.
